Go Go Go-Busters!

January 28th, 2012 | by Trevor Kent

It’s time to start talking about the next Sentai series! Yeah, I know, I didn’t finish up Gokaiger yet, though I plan to sometime in the near future. The 36th sentai show, Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters, is set to start on February 26th on TV Asahi at 7:30AM. Guess what, they’ve released a preview of the OP and ED songs, and let me tell you…I’m liking the preview for the opening at least! Go check it out here!

Coming with this is promotional materials for the new show, including references to their henshin call: “It’s Morphin’ Time!” Now, there has been speculation and claims that creators at Toei are fans of Power Rangers and like the work that comes out of it, but this might be the first direct reference to the show. Even for people who don’t watch Power Rangers, the phrase “It’s Morphin’ Time!” is well-known, and is a part of that 90′s nostalgia that a lot of the current young adult crowd remembers. Could this be a sign that Toei is looking to do more with Saban, or is it just a funny coincidence? What’s this, they’re calling the mecha of the series “Zords?” What, do the Go-Busters have a “Megazord” or someth…

“メガゾード…”

Actually, this is the villain’s Megazord, and to fight it, the Go-Busters call upon their own Megazord. I’m at a loss for words. I’m excited to see what comes of this, especially to hear the phrase “It’s Morphin’ Time!” again. I’m sure it won’t be as epic sounding as Jason though:

Thanks to JEFusion for the news.

Comic Creators For Freedom

January 9th, 2012 | by Trevor Kent
Posted In: Blog Entries

As creators, one of the things many of us neglect is the world outside of our drawing boards and tablets. We just don’t get out enough or pay attention enough to see what’s going on, sometimes even in our own neighborhoods. However, some of us do pay attention, and when artists see something they can bring into light or in some cases even help to fix, we like to do as much as we can. This is exactly what has happened with the Comic Creators for Freedom, started by Lora Innes of The Dreamer. Working with Love146 and Gracehaven, CCF helps to combat human trafficking by taking donations for these organizations. Would you like to donate and help out as well? Go to the main page and click the donate button on the side. For donating, you’ll receive a wallpaper made by 127 comic creators, including myself, of an epic snowball fight between our characters. Want a preview?

Some of my friends have participated as well, including Chris and Kez. So please take some time and visit the CCF Page to learn about these organizations, and if you can, please donate to the cause! Thanks!

Late updates? What’s going on?

November 16th, 2011 | by Trevor Kent
Posted In: Blog Entries

Well, I didn’t plan on updating this late, but I’m going to say this: Expect some delays.

Those who follow my twitter might already know that I plan on taking next week off. In addition to that, this entire upcoming month might have sporadic updates. I hate doing that because I really love working on this comic, but unfortunately, I’ve been working 10 – 12 hour days outside of the comic, in addition to teaching my class. Then I lost all my work on Monday, and it really set me back for today. Some of it is my fault as well, though I attribute that to falling asleep earlier and for much longer periods of time. But yes, I have taken a few days to do things other than work or the comic. The days are going to get much longer, and Black Friday is next week, where I will be a panicked mess for the entire weekend. Hopefully I can get back on schedule soon, but for now, watch my Twitter, Google+, Facebook, or the blog here for any updates. Thanks for your understanding, and hopefully we can all get through this holiday season without going too crazy.

If you’d like to support me in working on the comic, please make a donation. It’ll all go back into the comic in one way or another, so if you’ve got some extra cash (which I know many people don’t, so don’t worry too much), please think about hitting that donation bar. Can’t donate? Show some support in the comments! I always try to respond to all my comments from fans, so let me know how I’m doing!

A big thanks to all my readers!

Sick Day

October 30th, 2011 | by Trevor Kent

Yeah, I hate taking off two update days in a row, but today I woke up with a massive headache. After going to work, it just got worse and made me nauseous. Feeling a bit better now, but not in any condition to finish up the comic by midnight (or close to). If I feel better tomorrow morning, maybe I can work on it for Tuesday. Anyways, I’ll keep you guys posted on my Twitter, Google+ and Facebook, and here as well.

First off, yes, the review of the latest episode of Samurai is coming. I seriously haven’t had a chance to sit down and watch it, and when I plan on doing so, something else gets in my way. I’ll get it up soon, I promise!

Second, I was interviewed by Andrew Hurst of RangerCentral.com. You can read the full interview here! Andrew was really great to talk to, so please check out the interview and give him some traffic. He runs a great site with info on Super Sentai, Power Rangers, Kamen Rider, and more.

Some News, also a huge rant.

News first: Chromacorps will be returning on Monday, October 3rd. It will be a soft reset, not a full reboot. So all of you who were worried about starting over from Episode 1 can rest easy.

Now, just for some warning ahead of time. The rest of this post will be getting into some more mature topics. I have therefore hidden this part of the blog, and if you would like to read it, feel free to go ahead and click the link below to read the full post.

I’ll be taking next week off.

I need some time to think.

If you read my previous post, then you know what has happened recently. On top of that, I’ve been hit with overdraft fees on other bills, and those have totaled up to a point where I’m having to figure out how to get everything back on track. The state of the comic is this: I’m not sure what direction Chromacorps will be taking come October 3rd. I need some time to figure all that out as well, but the stress put on me by my recent personal problems has gotten in the way of that. Thanks for all the feedback on this situation, on Google+, Facebook, and here. Chromacorps is not going away.

I repeat: Chromacorps is NOT GOING AWAY.

I love this comic. I need to do it. That’s why this post isn’t titled “Hiatus.” When we come back, it may be different. Obviously that’s something I have to think about, discuss with colleagues, and make a decision on. If it is, I hope you all will return anyways. I love hearing your feedback, it helps me get through times like this.

Thanks, and see you in October!

A Very Tough Situation

September 20th, 2011 | by Trevor Kent

A couple things have happened today that I want to discuss. Please leave a comment or send me a twitter if you have any response to these. It isn’t a fun situation or anything that I expect my readers to help with, but if you have any encouragement, questions, comments, or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it:

Back in 2004, I decided to go to Alfred University, a very nice school with a top-notch fine art college. After having a great time learning and creating art, I received my diploma in 2008, a BFA in Fine Arts and Graphic Design. As with most students, I’ve had to take out loans to pay off my tuition and other fees, and I was steadily paying them until I ran into a bit of an issue. I was unemployed. When client work had dried up, and my other job decided to let me go, I was in a fix. Payment after payment piled up until I was deep in debt, with almost no hope in sight. However, thanks to the help of some of the companies, I was able to get Financial Hardship forbearance, and as soon as I got my new job, I could get back to paying off my college education. However, one of the companies would have charged me for forbearance, and while it would help to put the loan on hold to save money, I couldn’t make the payment because I was already so low on cash due to paying the other loans and bills. So they offered me a plan they had to help with that. If I made three monthly scheduled payments, that fee would be waived. Sounds like a good plan, and I was making money now, so I could keep up.

Well, then I found that one payment didn’t go through. I was confused, and scared. When I called the company, they offered three different answers, the last one being “Pay 1000 dollars or go into default.” Two people had given me answers that didn’t help, and I was furious. I eventually got to talk with someone who knew what happened, and through him I set up the scheduled payments again. Now because of overlap (because the third of the original three payments should have been cancelled after the second failed to go through), which I was never told about, I have been charged two times for trying to get back on track. In the end, I have now overdrawn my account, I have no money to pay bills or other loans, let alone buy gas or lunch for work, and this all happened on a day where I have come down with a bad cold. I would have just sucked it up and gone in, but unfortunately when I tried to get gas, I was unable to. I have a headache, I’m tired, and I feel like I’ve been cheated.

Secondly, and here’s where you guys come in, I am concerned about Chromacorps. Don’t get me wrong, I love it. I love working on it and I love those of you who comment and send me messages about how much you like my comic. It means everything to me. However, after rereading it, and looking it over, I’ve made quite a few missteps along the way. Admittedly, hindsight is 20/20, and I should just tell the story as it goes. However, I want this comic to bring in new readers as well, and I want them to see a good product. I’ve toyed with the idea of a reboot, or just a whole new story. However, #3 is out because I want to tell this story. The recent stress has also made me feel a bit worse about how things were presented in the story, and may be adding to this feeling of wanting to fix everything. So I ask you, the readers. If Chromacorps was to start over, with the same characters, stories, and plot, just told better, would you prefer that? Or would you just want me to press on and see how things go from here? I really do want to know.

Hopefully, everything will get better soon. Thanks!
